To the east of Lunel discover Aigues Mortes, in the heart of the Camargue, walk through the city of Saint Louis and its ramparts. Discover unique medieval fortifications and splendid viewpoints overlooking the city, the pond, the salt marshes and vineyards.
It is here that the masters Sauniers of Camargue put their ancestral know-how at the service of the elaboration of sea salt and especially of the Fleur de Sel de Camargue, their ancestral know-how. At the foot of the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, the sea salt mountains (camels) attest to an agricultural activity respectful of the environment, flora and fauna of the Mediterranean.
Further west stop in the capital of Camargue: Saintes Maries de la Mer.
Small village nestled in the Camargue between the Rhône and the Mediterranean. Land of welcome, pilgrimage and tradition. The village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer offers a complete change of scenery with its whitewashed houses and its many restaurants where you can taste the specialities of the region. For those who want a general view of the Saintes, go to the top of the church Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer (about 50 steps to climb). The view on the village, the sea and the arenas is sublime.
